Basically a CBL TEASER TUESDAY works like this:
• Grab your current read• Share 2 “teaser” sentences from a random page or a part you rather enjoyed and post it as a teaser.• BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! Make sure that what you sharedoesn’t give too much away; you don’t want to ruin the book for others!• As an option, you can give a short snippet of what you think so far... or not. That's optional.• Share the TITLE and AUTHOR too, so that other participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teaser.

Synopsis: Fifteen-year-old Izzy Brannick was trained to fight monsters. For centuries, her family has hunted magical creatures. But when Izzy’s older sister vanishes without a trace while on a job, Izzy's mom decides they need to take a break.
Izzy and her mom move to a new town, but they soon discover it’s not as normal as it appears. A series of hauntings has been plaguing the local high school, and Izzy is determined to prove her worth and investigate. But assuming the guise of an average teenager is easier said than done. For a tough girl who's always been on her own, it’s strange to suddenly make friends and maybe even have a crush.
Can Izzy trust her new friends to help find the secret behind the hauntings before more people get hurt?

Teaser:
"This is being a Brannick, Izzy. No one said it would be easy."
Thoughts so far:
Hawkins just pulled me into another adventure that's quite similar to Hex Halls but is still different. I never though putting the characters in school might give a sense of normalcy which is since I was used to the previous series with Sophie in school for 'monsters' but it was actually good. I'm really enjoying it.

Charlie, love your teaser! I don't read to many paranormal but may have to just check this one out.

You can also read the first series, Hex Hall. It's about Izzy's cousin. Witches and demons, but definitely not cryptic-ish like the typical paranormal books.
DeleteLooks good! The cover has made me look twice :)

You might find this a bit 'younger' than usual YA books because of the way it was written, though. It's much lighter to read and a humorous.
DeleteI didn't like Hex Hall much. I thought it was a bit childish and boring. But since this book is different I'll give it a try!
ReplyDeleteBy childish, you mean middle grade-ish or in terms of character? I find it a bit 'younger' than typical YAs--like sort of in between middle grade and YA.
DeleteThis one's set in a high school, and the only kid with ability is Izzy. So it's kinda different with Sophie's story where she's surrounded by Prodigiums all the time.
