Teaser Tuesday: The Host

Teaser Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by MizB at Should Be Reading and slightly altered by Coffee, Books & Lipgloss

Basically a CBL TEASER TUESDAY works like this:
• Grab your current read
• Share 2 “teaser” sentences from a random page or a part you rather enjoyed and post it as a teaser.
• BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! Make sure that what you share
doesn’t give too much away; you don’t want to ruin the book for others!
• As an option, you can give a short snippet of what you think so far... or not. That's optional.
• Share the TITLE and AUTHOR too, so that other participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teaser.
For this week's Teaser Tuesday: *drum roll*

The Host (The Host, #1)
Title: The Host
Author: Stephenie Meyer
Publication Date: May 6, 2008
Purchase: Amazon | B&N | TBD

Synopsis: Melanie Stryder refuses to fade away. Earth has been invaded by a species that takes over the minds of human hosts while leaving their bodies intact, and most of humanity has succumbed.

Wanderer, the invading "soul" who has been given Melanie's body, knew about the challenges of living inside a human: the overwhelming emotions, the too vivid memories. But there was one difficulty Wanderer didn't expect: the former tenant of her body refusing to relinquish possession of her mind.

Melanie fills Wanderer's thoughts with visions of the man Melanie loves - Jared, a human who still lives in hiding. Unable to separate herself from her body's desires, Wanderer yearns for a man she's never met. As outside forces make Wanderer and Melanie unwilling allies, they set off to search for the man they both love.

Featuring what may be the first love triangle involving only two bodies, The Host is a riveting and unforgettable novel that will bring a vast new readership to one of the most compelling writers of our time.

Teaser:
"You can't know how much time we'll have. You don't know if we should be counting in months or days or hours."
Thoughts so far:

I honestly picked this up because of the awesome movie trailer and I don't want to watch the movie without reading the book. So far, it has some good and bad parts. The beginning were a bit dragging. As always, Meyer is good in descriptive writing but sometimes it feels like she gets carried away, that some parts were given too much emphasis when I think that they could be condensed into a simpler and shorter part. The good part is, it's really interesting. The plot is interesting and I love the conversations between Wanderer and Melanie.

To those who haven't read this yet and in doubt whether they should, don't worry. It's much better than Twilight.
