Basically a CBL TEASER TUESDAY works like this:
• Grab your current read• Share 2 “teaser” sentences from a random page or a part you rather enjoyed and post it as a teaser.• BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! Make sure that what you sharedoesn’t give too much away; you don’t want to ruin the book for others!• As an option, you can give a short snippet of what you think so far... or not. That's optional.• Share the TITLE and AUTHOR too, so that other participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teaser.
For this week's Teaser Tuesday: *drum roll*
Title: Warm Bodies
Author: Isaac Marion
Publication Date: October 14, 2010
Synopsis: R is a young man with an existential crisis--he is a zombie. He shuffles through an America destroyed by war, social collapse, and the mindless hunger of his undead comrades, but he craves something more than blood and brains. He can speak just a few grunted syllables, but his inner life is deep, full of wonder and longing. He has no memories, no identity, and no pulse. Just dreams.
After experiencing a teenage boy's memories while consuming his brain, R makes an unexpected choice that begins a tense, awkward, and strangely sweet relationship with the victim's human girlfriend. Julie is a burst of vibrant color in the otherwise dreary and gray landscape that R lives in. His decision to protect her will transform not only R, but his fellow Dead, and perhaps their whole lifeless world.
Teaser:
"But it does make me sad that we've forgotten our names. Out of everything, this seems to me the most tragic. I miss my own and I mourn for everyone else's, because I'd like to love them, but I don't know who they are."
Thoughts so far:
R is one of the most amusing and entertaining voices I've read. He's so eloquent and humorous. But aside from that, this story bleeds life. After reading a few pages, I am already inspired with it. I never thought I'd love a zombie so much.
